I know this might sound like a stretch, but if you remove the upper ball
joint on either the same side or the opposite side, it will remove any tension
you're currently experiencing. I've run into the opposite of what you're
deescribing when lowering the front of a couple type 3s. In my case I had to jack up
the side I was working on to re-attach the ball joint, then lever the otherside
off. From what it sounds like, you're being held in place by the other side
thru the sway bar, due to the car being lowered (one side is holding the other
in place). I hope this helps.
