Hi I'm about to do something potentially stupid and need some feedback:
my 68' square recently developed the dreaded "loose bolt rattling around inside fan housing" problem.
I think there must be an easier method to extract that bolt than engine removal. This is my plan:
1) since the fan housing is round, the loose bolt should be resting at the bottom of the housing.
2) drill a ~ 1/2" diameter hole in the bottom of the housing
3) stick a 3/8" diameter cow magnet into the hole and fish for the bolt.
4) withdraw magnet and bolt
5) seal hole with JB weld
Anybody see anything wrong or potentially detrimental in this idea?? Anyone tried it?
TIA, Todd
