Jim; you were right, it was the arm on the  wiper
motor. I tried doing it the other way and it did
nothing to change it. AAR, the wipers are parked just
fine now. Thanks for the help. As for the generator
problem that I was having, I troubleshot as per the
Haynes manual and showed that the generator wasn't
putting out any volatge, using the no-load unregulated
volatge check from Haynes. Then I tried a fault
finding method off of the internet and it told me the
same thing *but* it suggested re-polarizing the
generator. I did what it said to do (and wasn't too
confident while doing it either) and darned, if it
didn't work. The generator puts out good voltage now,
I was able to get a voltage off the coil and was able
to time the engine as well. As for the generator light
not coming on on the dash-which was one of the
symptoms that stumped me at first, well, that was a
burned out bulb. A-duh. I replaced that and everything
works well. I'm finding that it looks like alot of my
gremlins are from the car sitting idle for so long and
all the electrical connections got worse as time went
by. Lessons learned? First, always start at square 1,
not 1.2 or 1a or the like, but 1. Second, sometimes
the obvious solution isn't obviously there in front of
you. If I remember correctly, the poloarizing issue
has been gone over on this forum and others as well,
and arguments go both ways for whether it works at
all. As for me, in all probability, my electrical
issues are related to lack of use more so than re-de
or un-polarized generators. Which leads to: go out and
use your Type 3's, and often at that. Hauling a$$ up
and down the street is so much fun, I'd forgotten how
much fun it can be. Now, I have to find a set of
seatbelts, a steering wheel, an interior....
