Have you seen this page?

It says the type3 tach is 85mm, so, it's possible the 3-1/4" VDOs would 
fit, if you don't want to find the cool ones mentioned on neil's page.  
( 85mm is more like 3-1/3" )

I have a 3-1/4" VDO, but I haven't tried to install it yet.
