Clean off the grease from the back, clean everything, and then resolder the wire. If the wire is too short, get some of the braid used for sucking up excess solder and use that as a replacement. Once everything is reconnected, grease the plates and reassemble. Check the plates for wear. If there is noticable play between the two plates you may have to replace them. This is a part which can actually wear out, but I have replacements. > Some of you might remember a couple months back hearing my story of the > neighbor who backed into my door. I was pleasantly surprised at the result. Nice going. You did exactly the right thing. Did you glue the plastic water shield back into place when you were done? It's important. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
