We're grateful for the work you did and the determination you showed in saving this fastback, and we regret the excess cost you endured in this episode. You've proven once again that no one else cares as much about your car as you do. It's also clear that you have much better than average troubleshooting skills, either that, or you've been working on D-Jetronic FI systems for years. ;-) As for the inflated repair bill, I don't know how successful you might be, but I think I would pursue some sort of refund from the shop owner. the fact that they failed to fix your car is pretty strong evidence that they failed to live up to their end of the commitment, and the inflated labor charges don't make them look good at all. A calm phone call to the shop might have some positive effect. It's possible that a mention of a complaint to their local BBB might offer some leverage, but racer shops are not particularly dependent on local good will, so I don't know how useful this might be. Thanks for reporting back to us, and congratulations on a job well done. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
