Re: [T3] Electric choke element on Solex carbs


I had the same problem with one of mine.  I was concerned that the solder
would melt at the temperature of the element.  I soldered it anyway as I had
nothing to loose and wasn't willing to pay AUD100 for a new one.  So far it
still works.  The heat up rate is probably a bit different, but I found that
by watching them open I could rotate the choke so they were both fully open
at the same time.

I think the chokes are cheaper in the US, like US$25-35, so it may be an
option to solder it for now while you track down a new one.
