I've not take one of these apart, but I suspect you're wise to leave it to 
someone who has done it before. I recommend that you contact Gabriel Garcia to 
see if he can fix this.

He is a locksmith specializing in VW keys and locks.

For what it's worth, in the later locks, the lock cylinder and the electrical 
switch are 2 separate parts. In those the spring return is part of the switch, 
not the lock.
