Re: [T3] Backfire, no start

It does sound like the common problem ---snip---

Many people fit a relay near the battery to relieve wear and tear on a tired old
ignition strater switch. I resisted this for years, but now I think it's a good
idea as it's farly cheap, the wiring is conveniently done and the switches are
getting harder to find.

Well, I think this was, indeed the problem. I went out this afternoon and checked the connections at the starter motor to make sure they were solid. Last summer I noticed that once in a while one of the wires liked to slip off the paddles. Everything looked OK today, but I wiggled the connections to make sure they were tight. Car started up. Took it around the block, stopped it in the driveway, started right up again.

Don't know if it was a loose connection or the "common problem," but I think one of my first priorities next spring is to get one of those wiring kits just to make sure I don't get stranded somewhere after a long drive.

Thanks everyone.
