I especially liked the magnetic Invasion stickers. (Still got some, John?) I actually like them a LOT more than the little brass plaques that are much more common. Name tags were a real plus for those of us with name-memory deficits. > What was missing? Type 34s, west coaster cars, people, other than Shawn Albertin & Piglet, who didn't want to bring their less-than-pristine cars, people from any real distance.... Maybe you've actually got a LIFE out there, but perhaps you could also make us part of it. ;-) I'd have to say that the weekend was fine, just as a type 3 event. I would not try to organize a lot of unrelated stuff just to see the local sights. I realize that Hershey had lots of other things to offer, but in a way, Parma was actually better because there were fewer distractions. The Hershey schedule added an extra day (friday) for those who could arrive early. That was a plus. After all, if you're going to take 2 weeks off to do something like this, you might as well spend 3 days AT the event instead of just 2. Personally, I'd make it 4, but that might be stretching it a bit. I also liked the fact that at Parma most of us were in the same motel, so we got to socialize with each other more. Still, I had a blast at Hershey, from the scenic early morning drive out on the way home, to John's clutch replacement "seminar" at the motel that one night. In the end, as Steve Ayres has often pointed out, some of us just really love to drive, and to us, a long trip will appear not as an ordeal, but as a blessing. After this next Invasion, however, we really have to do one somewhere more central in the US, just to let some other participate and perhaps to get people from BOTH coasts at the same time. How about somewhere in the Great Lakes region. I could even look into getting dorm rooms here at the UW. There would be no better place to pull this off. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
