Try taking disconnecting the hard line to see if it comes out of the MC okay. If it still doesn't work then the problem must be in the MC. If it comes out of the MC okay, then the hard line must be the problem. It would be unusual for a hard line to give you this kind of trouble, unless it had been kinked or crimped somehow. > #1 When I put the master cylinder in a while ago (the car is not on the > road) I did not "bench bleed" the master cylinder. None of the manuals > including Bently mention to do this. It's not necessary, there's no advantage to it, and it is just a way to make a somewhat difficult job really awful. Please put that thought aside. > #2- When I installed the master I remember that The push rod might > have to be adjusted. would this adjustment help or matter for the sake > of bleeding? The push rod should never need to be adjusted. The only time you might have to adjust it would be if someone had gotten in there and altered it ahead of you. Check the free play and adjust the pedal stop plate if the free play is not right. > just as a fyi I will probably replace the hard line. Ihave some spare > tubing in the garage. It's a special flare that you're not likely to be able to make yourself. Hard lines with the corrrect bubble flare and the 10mm line nuts can be bought at many FLAPS, however. They are inexpensive. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
