A friend of mine works on VW drag cars: http://www.raceshack.co.uk/ He has a WBX crank in his bus engine. The crank was designed to take 70 odd HP from the outset, so it is vastly superior to other VW A/C cranks: "The crank is still 69mm but is much stronger than a stock type 1 (or even a welded counterweighted crank) Once again this takes quite a bit of machining to make it fit." According to him the "type 5" engine is a WBX bottom end with A/C heads. -- Matt. UK.
