I was looking in the Bentley book today. No explanation of how to set timing. Lots of data, but no procedure. I assume there's marks on the blower fan you can see through the hole on the airshroud on the back of the engine. Sense on cyl 1 sparkplug with a timing light and look through the hole? or take the gen belt cover off? I haven't used a timing light for years, do they even sell them any more? I think I gave away the last one I had. The many different ignition curves in the book are interesting. My engine is a '69, will there be a full advance mark on the fan? Any advice appreciated. Thanks, Jim Showker SB MT '69 Manx buggy on '57 pan MT (just thought I'd do this like some of you others do. Haven't started the Manx for years, It's just sitting) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
