More hopeful for the others then - should be possible with just a CO monitor, which was what a mechanic for a VW agent at the time said could be done. It's surprising where mechanics leave a carb adjusted if they don't use a CO monitor. Of course, there's always some above average who can just judge it right - trouble is they all think they can.
