Wow, I guess we're all glad that you didn't just stop when you found the loose 
bits in the pulley housing.

I see some missing bits near the tail of the crank, but is that a crack going 
around most of the top, near the bolts? What do you suppose caused the broken 
bits at the center? Was this just a part which was abused during a previous 
rebuild?
 
I can't see the cooling control flaps. Are they there?

I have all of these in case you can't find them locally.

At least now there is no longer any confusion about what the problem actually 
was.   ;-)
