[[[I haven't heard this... leaving exposed metal parts would be worse anyway.]]] yeah, but really...just how many steel engine parts are submerged in crankcase oil?......I'm thinking not many totally immersed....I'm asking, I don't really know for sure........when you look at a engine cross section view, there's ALOT of internal engine components that are NOT in oil when not running.........so I'm thinking there's not much difference for the few parts that are in contact with the oil........ [[[One thing I should add to my previous post is that gas will be OK for 6 months IN THE WINTER... you leave it in your snowblower for 6 months when the temperature is higher and the chemistry takes over.]]] I agree, absolutely different for summer months.....I completely drain the oil and the fuel from my snowblower during the summer (plastic gas tank, no rust) because I store it in my shed on it's end!!.....but my back-up generator always has a full gas tank (with sta-bil)(metal tank) [[[I don't trust any of that gas stabilizer stuff... snake oil in my opinion but then again, I'm not a chemist.]] Ya know, I don't use any kind of additives with my gas engine equipment, but I will use sta-bil........I have used it for years and have never had any problems storing gas in my stuff...I've read that it actually does what they advertise it does, but I too am not a chemist.....but I figure, it's not too expensive and I know it doesn't hurt, so I'll keep using it... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
