[T3] Is this a myth? Backwards side vents?

A man parked next to us (71 Sqbk) tonight said that
some models earlier had side rear air vents with all
the slots angled backwards. He said this produced a
vaccuum rather than cooling air to engine.  

 I never heard of this. Had a 69 once but didn't
notice. Ran a few older sqbks into the ground but
didn't look at air slots.

  Anything on this? Anyone?
