I think those fragile plastic side pieces were also used in the late beetles, so they might still be available. It's possible that the seat spring assy. is also a beetle part, so this might help you find one. Most of the broken springs I've seen in late seats were in the back, so I might have a good bottom here that I could get to one of these days. > One other thought I had that might at least be a temporary fix- I may > consider joining the two broken ends with a couple large enough collar > stays and a small length of rod in between as a splice. Is there actually a section of spring MISSING? I suspect not, so a reasonable repair might just be a short length of steel tube which you slip over both ends and crimp in place. I'd make such a sleeve about 2" long. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
