My little trickle chargers have a transformer that drops it to 12VAC, then a diode bridge rectifier, to convert the AC to DC and a dropping resistor to allow the correct current into the battery. I have an LED and shunt resistor too that indicates when current is flowing. All mounted in a little aluminum box that I got from Digi Key. If your interested in building one I can give you a circuit diagram and picture of it... not too difficult to assemble. I'm not into electronics like I used to be. I know a little bit like what a transformer is, using a relay, LED's and their polarity, what SPST means for a switch, etc. but putting all the pieces together outta the blue to make some gadget is not something I can do. So some specifics would be needed. Yes, I know I can find them for sale but that's not what I asked for; I would like to know more about the devices and what's required for a proper set up. My idea is to have just one panel per battery. Seriously.... what your looking for is about 30Ma of current into the battery and most solar cells will do that, but im not sure if it will be as good having that current all over the lot or not at all at night. If interested I could pop the cover off one of my AC ones and put together a parts list. The only thing that I may not have a direct source for is the transformer but I don't recall its anything special. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
