I'm not using solar, but I got a plug in type charger. It does 6V and 12V batteries. I don't understand this-but when I was looking into chargers-some were automatic. By that I mean they switched from full charging to trickle charging/maintaining automatically. There are others on the market that don't switch, so you need to monitor them, as they could overcharge a battery-or something like that, and cause damage. Therefore I imagine if that any type of charger needs to take that into consideration...solar or otherwise. -kevin '71 sqbk '65 kombi somerville, ma -----Original Message----- From: Toby Erkson [mailto:air_cooled_nut@pobox.com] Subject: [T3] Solar battery chargers/maintainers? Anyone using a solar panel to maintain a battery? Or to even charge a battery? This is a route I would really like to take as I have two small batteries (jet ski and motorcycle) and sometimes a car battery that need a maintenance charge on them during the off-season. What should I look for? Wattage/amperage minimum/maximum? Diode to insure polarity? Etc. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
