It's kind of hard to express what it is I'm hearing. Then the pump is first run (and the lines are empty, presuming that's what happens) I hear a sound that sounds like WRRRRUMP! and as the system gets primed that sound dies down into a "wrrr". If the relief valve we were discussing earlier is contacting the vanes on the pump, I could forsee this. I never hear a high pitched whine like newer fuel pumps I'm familiar with, but I don't think this pump spins at the RPMs current fuel pumps run at. As I work on the fuel lines, I'll pull the pump and run it through kerosene to clean it out- it probably could stand to have this happen- the car had one tank replaced years ago already as it had rusted through. Who knows what gunk is in the pump... >I'm gonna have to get my pump rebuilding gear ready.... > > > Heh. I may need this on standby. :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
