[T3] buddy can u spare some operating arms? (1968)

<x-flowed>Just wondering if anyone has a spare set of operating rods with intact 
bumpers they are looking to part with (slap all your pockets to make sure 
before answering ;). Like an idiot I removed them some 20 years ago as per 
the advise of a friend who swore they were useless. The entire upper 
assembly is still there and in excellent shape... just no rods.

While on the subject, what exact purpose(s) do they serve? What drawback(s) 
from not having them?
