If you remove the 2 screws that hold the shifter base cover on, you can
remove the red wire going to the rear of the car from the neutral safety switch,
and touch the end to the terminal to the battery "+" post. This should get the
engine to turn over. Just remember to put the key to the on postion, and set
the hand brake (in case it starts and wants to move). I've hand a couple of
balky starters that every once in a while need this done to. It seems that they
need it if they've been parked awhile. After you've cycled it a few times, it
should be able to be hooked up as normal, as it seems like you've moved whatever
was stopping the connection. I hope this helps.
