Briggs & Stratton doesn't have filters on a lot of their engines, and
yet they recommend syntheic for all of their engines used under extreme
conditions. And they build a LOT MORE air cooled engines than VW ever
has, or ever will.
I have been using Mobil1 in my engines since it first came out. I have
yet to have an engine failure. Yours is the only one I have ever heard
of.
