I've only experience of the stock twin Solex 32SPDIT-2 and -3 carbs. These have pipes linking the manifolds - some have 1 pipe and others have 2. I have always assumed they may play a role in making it easier for the carbs to still work reasonably even if going 'off tune' but I have no higher knowledge on it. Certainly if there are air leaks at the connections, the car runs badly, but any air leak would do that I guess. Dave.
