Linkage adjustment is certainly very important, but it's not the only
factor. Syncing carbs properly involves balancing fuel and air across
the rpm range, and fine details matter. You can get them to run passably
by eyeballing things, but getting it *right* requires a close eye on how
they draw and some hands-on experience. I encourage every new dual-carb
owner to find a dual-carb maven, preferably a Porsche-certified working
mechanic over 50 with a German accent, and spend the money to have him
do your base setup and show you the tricks that you can't get from any
book. Leaving aside the education you'll get, what you save in time,
frustration and fuel will be well worth it.
