This is the VW part number. It indicates that this is a type 3 distrubitor and 
I gather that it is vacuum advance only. That means that it will probably only 
work correctly with the same carbs that it was originally supplied with.

A mech adv has the advantage that it doesn't have to be matched to a particular 
carb. You want a dist with a good advance curve, but for whatever reason, the 
word on the street is that the 009 no longer comes with a decent advance curve. 
Just using any later FI dist, the mech adv part only, will give good results.
