Re: [T3] rust under the paint?


Lots of things can cause this in poor prep work.  But I usually find that
this is caused by letting the bondo get wet at some point before the paint
is applied.  Bondo is like a sponge to water and even leaving it out in the
rain in primer (which is porous) can get moisture in the bondo.  There may
be a skim coat of bondo under that paint there.

Its also possible that the bondo is applied over holes in the metal, eather
rust holes or trim holes or holes drilled in the panel to push the bondo
through to hold it.  this way water can get to the backside of the bondo and
soak in.
