My son and I have been having a lot of fun driving the '69SB around. He's learning how to drive a clutch for the first time. I was pointing out the shift points on the speedo to him and we noticed that the marks are crazy. So, can one of you experts explain it? First mark, is at 10 mph, or 0 since it's the needle stop Next mark is 10 or 20 mph? Next mark is 20 or 30 mph? Next mark is clearly marked at 30 mph. If you figure 10 mph to be 0, then the next mark, which would be 10mph is obviously faster that 10mph, somewhere between 15 and 20mph. I suggested that the marks are really 10 mph, 16.7 mph, 23.4 mph and 30 mph, but my son thinks they made a mistake. The marks on up from 30 line up with the numbers pretty well. It's kinda important to know, cause we have 20 and 25 mph zones in out town and the cops are ticket happy, especially if a teen is driving. I know that we could take it out with another car, and calibrate it, but this is more fun. Also, at a junkyard, we found a speedo in a '69 SB that is marked with a number every 10 mph from 0 to 120 and looks really sporty. It appears to be factory and matched the clock and idiot light gauges. I've never seen one of these, any idea where it comes from? Maybe from a T34?
