No, that's why they have different part numbers.

It gives you a stiffer spring rate and greater load capacity once the rear end
has been loaded down. In spite of what the posts on this subject, I can't see
that it would help handling other than in stiffening the rear suspension.

The problem is that it works exactly the opposite of a sway bar. With a heavy
load, so that it is in effect, when you take a corner the body leans to the
outside. This Z-bar would transfer some weight to the inside of the car,
increasing the body lean. A sway bar would remove some weight from the inside
wheel to reduce the lean.

Except for giving the ability to carry heavier loads under rather tranquil
circumstances, I don't see the point.

And possibly a '66.

I suspect it was installed with too few gaskets, so that it was under so much
stress that its welds broke. The gaskets are used as shims, to get just the
right amount of preload on these parts. If you didn't realize this and just
threw in a single gasket, like any other ordinary gasket, then you'd probably
be in trouble.

If you end up just fixing one side of this transmission, I would also CHECK
what's there on the other side. It's probably under stress there, too.
