Steve's right that it won't help, but as long as the engine is out, this is a 
good time to make sure that the adjuster is free. If it's rusted, it's a lot 
easier to free it up with the engine out of the way.

Not really, it's just that if you don't support the rear end, then you can bend 
or break something at the front end.
