Re: [T3] '67 squareback, with every little thing wrong.

Fess=> Tranny mount is poorly installed ...
=> Bowden tube is too short.

Have your guy check that the clutch cable tube has been reinforced; if it
hasn't, you'll need it. Look under the carpet for a largish (2") hole
drilled into the tunnel. You need this access to do the welding.

=> for street he recommends I get the one with springs.

He's very right.

=> the bolts on mine are the wrong thread, and have
=> been wedged in

Sounds like you've got a real messy PO job on your hands. I would be very
careful about trusting *any* of the modification work with your life.
Inspect and doublecheck everything.

=> The mechanic is contemplating cutting a hole in the frame

Go ahead and do it, get the nut welded back in properly, then weld up the
hole again. It'll be fine.

=> trying to get the whole bit of frame assembly. ( jeez. )
=> I believe it actually all unbolts. can anyone confirm that?

We call it the rear subframe, and yes, it can come out as a rolling unit,
wheels, transaxle, motor and all.
