<x-flowed>I cant say I've ever heard of a TDI in a Type 3, but I've seen pictures of one that was converted to VR6 power. It certainly is possible, but you would have to convert the rear luggage compartment into an engine compartment because of the height of the inline 4 engine, so a notch or fastback would be the best I guess.
