Re: [T3] quick welding question

I wouldn't get embarrassed by using slightly too thick metal in a potentially
highly loaded area, even if 24 gauge was originally used. ISTR the roof panel
is 20 gauge, about 0.9mm thick. That's nice metal to use for strong repairs,
but a bit thick if a lot of shaping is needed. For that area I would probably
cut out the weak metal with the bracket support, remove the bracket support and
weld a repair panel to the edges of the original where the seams were - or maybe
on top of the old sound metal, so the original sound spot welds were left.
Measure or make a template for the position of the bumper support bracket first!

question. What gauge metal should i be using for rust repairs next to the rear
bumper mounts(where the brackets bolt in). I have some left over 22g but i think
its too thick. Thanks all.
