If the ID of your trim rings is larger than the OD of the hubcaps, then you 
have the wrong kind of trim rings.

If your car is a 71 with 4-bolt wheels, I don't know what you might have that 
wouldn't be right. OTOH, '71s did not come with the trim rings; they came with 
the outside face painted silver instead.
