When I removed the RH valve cover to adjust the valves on my 68 Squareback Saturday I noticed one of the wavy washers on the rocker shaft had broken. It was for the intake valve for the #1 cylinder. Half of it was in the valve cover and I hope I find the other half when I change the oil tonight. Should I have known about this? Are there any external signs or sounds when one of these washers breaks? I did not notice any power loss or more valve train noise. I'm picking up some new washers today and will not be driving the car until fixed.
