I don't run synthetic in the engine because I've yet to plumb in a real filter, and understand their superior detergent qualities can cause more harm than good. Does the tranny have the same sort of unseen pitfalls in such an endeavor or is this a drain and fill sort of procedure? I am fond of the fix it right and not mess with it for a very long time philosophy, unless fixing it right entails tearing it all apart, as this is my daily driver and I cannot afford to do that at the moment.
