We are just people of various ages, from various countries around the world and from all walks of life who share a love of VW Type 3s. Your name is familiar to me from your past posts, but I guess I haven't seen enough posts to get a mental picture of you yet. I suppose some kind of bio area on the web site might be interesting, but it would require time that Greg doesn't have, and, to be fair, it doesn't change much. We are all still here for the same reasons. For me, one of the main attractions of this group is the fact that it broadens my horizons into the early years of type 3s where I have no personal experience, and into the international market where we get to hear about variations in type 3s that I would not otherwise know about. I met another old VW mechanic last night and we talked about the early days. He had worked at the dealerships in the 60s and owned a '64 single carb notch. His take on the single carb engine was that it was awful; he replaced his single carb with a snowmobile carb and got it running much better, although only up to 80-85 mi/hr, where it crapped out. My thinking was that this must have meant that there was something wrong with his single carb that he never figured out, but I've never dealt with these. What's the consensus of single carb owners out there? We agreed that the dual carbs were much better. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
