I wouldnt go to electronic ignition. Sounds like a good idea but the Pertronix and Compufire have reliability problems. They are cheap and dont have the quality built in that a OE unit would have, and usually only last a couple years. Retrofitting a Vanagon system or the like would be OK... but alot of work for little gain in reliability and Electronic ignition wont add ANY power to the engine... despite all the hype. Good ventilated lubriPoints will easily get you 15Kmiles with no problems, remember.... keep reliability by keeping it simple, which is what these cars have going for them. I know that this could be alot of different things but my plans are to make this my daily driver so I plan to upgrade the ign sys to electronic. Does anybody have any useful knowledge about this so I not running around in circles.
