With my current job demands I can no longer afford to keep this car. I haven't had a chance yet, but I will be listing it on the samba. Is there anyone out there who might be interested in buying a 71 FI sb? It has a brand new windsheild. If so send me an email off list and I can tell you about it and send pictures.

I also have a bunch of parts I need to move, for starters, a driver's side door, I have door, trunk, and hatchback seals, FI injection parts that did work when they were romoved from a 72 sb, a couple of dead generators that still have the pullys, a wing vent window, a door window and a couple of tail lens. I have other parts as well, I just need to get to them in storage, if I can't get this car sold I will start parting it out later on as well.

This is why after nearly 300Kmi my tranny is moaning and groaning but NOT
popping out of gear.  I read early on not to rest your hand on the
shifter...
The tranny in my last square started popping out of first and wouldnt stay
in reverse at only 140K... but the PO had a wife who was pretty
uncoordinated.

In my many years of rebuilding VW tranaxles, the usual cause is that the
shift fork is worn, and the slider is not engaging all the way. This
wears the gear on the shaft, and then it starts poppingt out of gear.
I can look at the shfit fork wear in a VW trans and just about tell you
the drivers habits. If 1st gear goes, the driver rests his/her hand on
the shift lever at stop lights. If 3rd/4th goes first, the driver rests
their hand on the shift lever going down the road.
The Trans is designed and adjusted so that after it is in gear, leave
the shifter alone.
