You made a reasonable deduction based on your experience, but I'm pretty sure it had to be something else. I think that the time I tried to torque a SP to the Bentley spec it was something like 25 ft-lbs. I was amazed at how much tighter that was than what I had been using. In the end it was clear that this was way more than necessary, and it was a costly mistake. And, yes, # 3 is certainly the hardest one to get in and out. I always START all my plugs in their threads by hand. By this, I mean that I put the SP in a socket with an extension and then spin it in with my fingertips. Only after I'm sure it's actually started do I add the ratchet to the extension. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
