What a great weekend. It was nice to meet Greg finally. Plus it was cool to meet Tony, and see his car which is one of the nicest darkside Squarebacks I've seen in a while. The pics don't even do justice to his beautiful paint, which I believe he sprayed himself. And, as always, it's good to hang with the dynamic darkside duo, Toby and Brian. These are two guys that you don't have to tell to smoke 'em if you got 'em. How did you guys do in the show? Anyone take home some trophies? Greg, Brian, Toby, Tony? I think this show was the best I've seen ever. The biggest, baddest swap meet I've seen yet. I think we all scored some good stuff. I noticed Greg had some fan shrouds. I finally found a one piece fiberglass Type 3 front end, and at a good price, $50. I also found a universal roof rack for $35 that is stamped made in Italy. And the best deal of the day? A woman came up to me and asked If we were from Oregon. I replied yes and told her the various cities for Toby, Brian and myself. Once I mentioned that I was from Medford, she said she had moved to California, but had a Fastback in Medford and that If I picked it up, I could have it! And it's my favorite year, '69. I'm going to look at it today or tomorrow. What you may not notice in Greg's pics is the empty trailer in the back ground. I wanted to pick up the $5 Fasty that I bought on eBay on the way down, but it was buried in a car lot. I did get to stop and look at it on the way down, and picked it up in Redding, CA on the way home. It is one of the most rust free cars I've seen in a while. The battery tray is completely solid. I couldn't find any serious rust in any typical area either. The front windshield was out, so I could see in the window channels (is that what they are called?), and they are good. Rockers good too. The car is really pretty straight as well. It's now safely stored at my dad's place. At first I thought this car would be a good race car project, but it's in such good shape it needs to be put back together. Would be a great German-look Fastback. -- Phillip Bradfield founder: southern oregon vw club: http://www.sovw.com founder: das typ 3 projekt: http://www.dastyp3projekt.com *new* 1972 Fastback - Some sort of blue, no motor, race car?
