Check the fluid level.
Russ, I did checks (just posted in response to Bob's post).
I'll do a proper warm test today to compare.
Check the screen.
I guess I'd better have a spare gasket on hand before I do
this? Or can I get away with re-using the one that's in there? Was
installed probably less than 5,000 miles ago.
Check the vacuum modulator.
In Bentley, I see there's a section for simply replacing the
vacuum unit, and there are references to the unit in the pressure
testing section. How do I check it directly? Hm, guess I should
also check its hose? And isn't its the hose the one that can get
filled with oil?
Check the govenor.
Bentley says that its parts can get worn or dirty. If it's
dirty, will it be pretty obviously gunky? If I need to clean it,
would I use the nasty carb cleaner stuff, or some other solvent?
Check the shift linkage and connector tightness.
This current problem feels very different from previous
linkage troubles I had, but I'll end up checking this, too.
Thanks, Russ!!
