You've got a hard road to hoe either way you go. If you decide to restore the FI, this is difficult you are very familiar with the system. Plus you're going to have to replace the fuel tank, distributor, injectors, and fuel pump. The pump and injectors are rather expensive. The road to carbs is also non-trivial. I'm a FI guy, so I'll let others comment on your carbs.
