[T3] Seized Engine??
<x-flowed>Hi all,
I have had a weird problem develop on my Squareback. I went to my shed
to get her out for a car show tomorrow, and she wouldn't turn over. She
has been sitting for a while- about a month or so, so I got out the
jumper cables thinking the battery was run down. That didn't make a
difference, so I opened up the engine hatch and tried to turn the
engine over by hand.
This is the weird part, I can turn the engine over nearly a full turn
before it stops and won't turn any more. If I turn it backwards it will
go nearly all the way around and stop at the same point. I pulled all 4
spark plugs out and felt around in the top of the cylinder with a
screwdriver and checked that all 4 pistons were moving, and they were.
I took the valve covers off, and all of the valves are moving. Checked
the oil, and it was just over the half mark, so I topped it up to full.
Felt around in the fan housing and there doesn't appear to be anything
caught.
Next I put the car in 4th and pushed the car forwards a bit, and the
engine turned until it got to that point, and then pulled the car back,
same thing again. The she was running fine last time I used her, and
parked her in the shed.
I am completely puzzled as to what would be causing this?? Anyone have
any suggestions?
