Re: [T3] Fw: source for tires

Oh -- the Squareback's tires (XZX) are going onto the Beetle --
which will be getting the Superior Industries Volksmags. I've loved the
Michelins on the Squareback, but I don't really care for the sidewall
cracking. They do have new-looking tread (after over 20,000 miles!), but
I just get bad vibes knowning that they're some 10 years old (or more).
Given that I drive the Squareback only a couple of thousand miles a year,
I expect that they'll fail due to age before they run out of tread.

I'm now looking at my XZX's as kind of cool vintage accessories.
I'll wrap them around the Volksmags, and stick them on the Beetle -- which
only comes out of the garage for shows and sees less than a thousand miles
a year.

The Squareback will just end up with something modern (probably
Kumhos) on the stock Type III-offset rims.

Now, if somebody can explain why nice Continental bicycle tires
cost $30 apiece, do tell! I'm going through about a set a year...
