Dave, I don't know if the road was the same kind of asphalt that they use on roads stateside, but with any light rain, especially the first in a while, it seems the roads are always slicker than after it has been downpouring for a while. This is no fault of anyone, just the way the asphalt seems to be. In addition, it is every drivers' responsibility to travel safely according to current conditions, and that includes knowing that roads are slicker when it is raining out, as well as understanding that there might be a certain amount of oil, dirt, or other substances on the road that needs to be accounted for when braking, cornering, or otherwise estimating any potential action. I'm getting wordy, but I doubt very very much that any drops of oil you spilled onto the road, even if they were the cause of said accident, could have caused an accident if all other prudent driving precautions were in place on the part of the driver. In short, I can see how you might feel guilty, but I think it would take an oil slick of much more magnificient proportion to cause an otherwise safe driver in total control of his vehicle to lose it and end up in the ditch. :) ===== ----------------------------------------- Have you driven your Type 3 today? http://www.tiserves.com/VW/ ----------------------------------------- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
