Re: [T3] Erratic Idle Problems

Here's the answers to some of your questions, Jim...

I was talking about the hose to the pressure sensor. When I pull this off,
the car seems to idle correctly, and I do notice quite a little vacuum
created by the pressure sensor when I remove the hose from the top of the
AID.

I have a voltmeter, and I'll do this next time I go to town (should be later
today for lunch). I'm thinking perhaps my voltage is too low when the
problem is happening, because when it's idling very slow, my headlights are
very very dim. Also, when it's swinging from a normal RPM down to the low
RPM range the generator and the brake warning lights come on. Is the low
voltage causing the erratic idle, or is the erratic idle causing the low
voltage. I'll take a measurement next time I'm out and let you know what I
read.

No clicking sounds when I'm driving (outside of the normal FI clicks when I
turn the key to the first position).

This doesn't ring any bells, yet. Maybe we need more description.

Try using a long tube to listen thru, or a screwdriver with the blunt end in

one ear, to pinpoint the sound. OTOH, like you say, there may not be
anything
there that is unusual.

If this is the hose to the Air Cleaner, then this should not change
anything.

Check the hose to the pressure sensor, and make sure it is attached on both
ends.

Do you have a voltmeter? If so, measure the voltage across the battery with
the
engine warmed up after a drive and the engine running at medium rpm. It
should
be above 13.5V.

Do you hear occasional clicking sounds from under the back seat while you're

driving?
