This notch can be put in a 4 spd case with a die grinder and a little patients. The biggest difference that really matters is the cam plug behind the flywheel. and AT drive plate CAN rub on the plug, wearing through. The plug needs to be turned around for the AT's. It may be a case where the plug has been put installed for and automatic by the last person to have the engine apart. I always install them for the AT as the 4 spd flywheel has plenty of clearance. -- Russ Wolfe '71 FB AT '66 FB MT '65 T1 (not running) russw@classicvw.org http://www.classicvw.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
