I don't think you'll find a non-Bosch VW starter anywhere. What you have is probably a Bosch starter which has been rebuilt by someone else, and you're looking at the rebuilder's sticker. The starter itself will have the Bosch name ane number stamped into the housing. VW actually made starters for awhile, but I don't recall if they ever made 12V ones. They were junk. > I took the engine down and notice the throw-out bearing is a Sach's and so > is the pressure plate. Are they suppost to be bosch, sachs is aBrazilian > brand right? Fichtel & Sachs was an OE supplier to VW. They are german, but most of the replacements you find in the US today are Brazilian Sachs. The German Sachs parts are excellent quality. I believe the Brazilian Sachs items are almost as good. Bosch makes electrical items only. They don't make stuff like clutch parts or pistons, cylinders or bearings. The OE Bosch parts are excellent quality. > I also wanted to ask about an alignment issue. It's also possible that it's just the fender which has been bent to a slightly different shape on one side. If you're concerned about the height, measure from the ground up to torsion bar housing on each side. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
